Join our annual Writers Conference with a full day of workshops, a critique partner meet & greet, and a book giveaway! Learn how to take writing from a hobby to a career, craft opening pages that get the attention of agents, self-publish with confidence, and effectively market yourself as an author. Also get a peek into the world of ghost writing. Lunch will be provided. (Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate special requests for lunch.)

10:30 – 11:30 a.m: Shameless Self-Promotion – Ken Schneck 
Marketing your work is essential to building an audience. No matter your goals, you need to know how to talk about your work in a way that sets you apart. Get inspired as we talk about the basics of self-marketing from social media to websites to that ever-important elevator pitch.

1:00 – 2:00 p.m: Fearless First Pages – Mara Purnhagen
Examine the importance of the first few pages of your manuscript and the tools to establish tone, setting and character. This workshop will also cover frequently asked questions about genre, word count, and submitting your work to agents.
2:00 – 2:15 p.m: Break & Author Signing
2:15 – 3:15 p.m: How to Self-Publish (and Sell) Your Book in a Nutshell – Abby Vandiver
Learn about self-publishing from the basics of writing and editing to the technical side of cover design, formatting, and publishing with online retailers. This session will give writers the confidence to consider self-publishing!
3:15 – 3:30 p.m: Critique Partner Meet & Greet / Break & Author Signing 
3:30 – 4:30 p.m: Interview with a Ghost – Greg Boose
Curious about the invisible world of ghostwriting? Greg Boose, a ghostwriter on two New York Times best-selling Young Adult novels, shares how he got his start, what he learned, and how those experiences motivated him to write under his own name.
